Turtle races are held every Thursday, mid-June through mid-August. They will not be held on Thursday, July 6th as we will instead be racing the turtles at the Phelps Mill Festival on Sunday, July 9th.

Registration begins at 11:00am with the first races starting shortly after.

We have a NEW spot for turtle races this year! They will be held in the parking lot of Lakes Country on Main, at 112 Main Street E. There is public parking available at the lot right behind First National Bank.

We ask for a $3 donation per race or $5 for 2 races. The proceeds go to the Lakes Area Community Center and specifically towards putting on more family friendly events all year long in Battle Lake.

We have turtles available for use or you can bring you own. A local family looks after our turtles safely all summer. They go back to their natural habitat when they are done racing.

Please, no pets other than turtles allowed in the park during the races. 

Each individual race takes a few minutes. Depending on how many people we have, the races can last from 30 minutes to two hours. Winners take home fun prizes that have been donated by local businesses!

On most occasions (dependent on volunteers), the LACC will also sell popcorn and t-shirts.
